” It is better to know a little of what is really good than a lot of what is mediocre and unnecessary ” – Tolstoy

” Read the best books first, or you may not have a chance to read them at all. ” – Thoreau

The single most important principle is understanding what we can change and what we can’t. No matter how hard you try, you can’t make someone like you. And time spend at these immovable objects is time not spent on things we can change.

If we can focus on making clear what parts are within our control and what parts are not, we will not only be happier, we will have a distinct advantage on people who fail to realize they are winning an unwinnable battle.
